Afternoon Music and Movement Teacher Needed
The Early Childhood Specials Teacher instructs mixed-age groups of preschool-aged children and kindergarten classes. Reporting to the school Principal, they are responsible for preparing a developmentally appropriate Music and Movement education curriculum.
This position involves being at school 20 hours a week, between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday when school is in session. The teacher is responsible for delivering three class sessions per day of forty minutes duration each. The teacher is also expected to attend staff meetings, team meetings and participate in the life of the school.

Responsibilities

- Preparing and teaching music and movement classes for preschool and kindergarten classes
- Maintaining the music and movement classroom in a clean, attractive, and functional manner
- Preparing a request for music equipment for the program and managing any allotted budget
- Communicating regularly with classroom teachers regarding their student's progress, concerns regarding a child’s typical development (large locomotor, communication processing), as well as communicating the concepts/skills being taught/explored
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college/university or its equivalent
- Preference will be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in music education, music in early childhood education, or music therapy
- Secondary preference will be given to candidates with a minor in music education, music in early childhood education, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Kodály Music, or Orff Schulwerk
- Evidence of at least one year’s teaching experience at the preschool/Kindergarten level
- Current MO State Teaching Certification Preferred
- Be flexible to adapt to the changing nature of the work
- Be resourceful and a good problem-solver
- Be committed to whole-child education and meeting children’s needs holistically
- Effective communication skills with adults and children
- Understanding of basic principles of childhood development
- Demonstrated success working with a diverse student population
Salary: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
